The contact or winding resistance is measured on the principle of voltage drop. A specific DC current is passed through the equipment under test, indicated by the digital ammeter and the potential drop across the contact / winding is measured by the digital “millivoltmeter” and calibrated as micro-ohm-meter. The instrument comprises of a DC power supply, the ammeter and the micro-ohm-meter along-with the necessary four terminals and switches, housed in a moulded “VIP” type suitcase. Two pairs of current & potential leads are provided for measurement.
